WOMEN’STEC is delighted to host a ‘Girls into Construction’ event in partnership with CITB (NI) and Gilbert-Ash Ltd this November 2017.  Around 60 students from local secondary schools will be attending the event, which aims to encourage young women into the construction industry and promote awareness of the diverse range of career opportunities available.

The venue for the event is WOMEN’STEC new premises at 29 Chichester Avenue, North Belfast and attendees will be taking part in a range of hands-on trades activities in our recently extended workshop space.

Females are significantly under-represented in the construction industry in areas such as electrics and joinery and there are skills shortages in many areas such as project managers, architects and other professionals – so now is a great time to join the industry! The event, which is already booked out, will highlight career opportunities in construction to young women, who will be attending from Newry, Fermanagh, Ballymoney and Greater Belfast.

On the day students will have the opportunity to speak to female Construction Ambassadors and members of the CITB (NI) Women in Construction Network. By presenting female-specific experiences of working within the NI Construction Industry, we aim to inspire young women to consider career routes that they may not have previously considered.

This event is part of the WOMEN’STEC #notjustforboys campaign.  Follow us on Twitter and give us a like on Facebook and help us spread the word!  To find out about the range of courses we have on offer, please visit www.womenstec.org
