WOMEN’STEC attended the Translink ‘Have A Go’ bus driving event on 12 April 2018.

The purpose of the event was to encourage women to consider a career as a bus driver, and to increase the number of female drivers employed.

WOMEN’STEC was delighted to organise a group of women to attend the event, which took place at Nutt’s Corner Circuit, Crumlin. The session provided women with practical experience of driving a bus, a presentation from female Translink employees and useful advice on the recruitment process. Those taking part were able to drive a range of buses including Metro, Glider and Ulsterbus with excellent tuition from driving instructors.

Bus driver job applicants must be aged 21 and over, have a full car driving license with a minimum of two years driving experience since obtaining it. Both full-time and part-time positions are available.
